Microsoft Visio Viewer is compatible with Windows 7 and Windows 8. It will take little time to install Visio Viewer on a PC powered by Windows 7 or Windows 8.
Microsoft Visio Viewer is compatible with Internet Explorer 8, 9, and 10. Once you install Visio Viewer on a Windows PC, you can view Visio files within one of these Internet Explorer versions. You can view Visio files with a .vsdx, .vsdm, .vsd, .vdx, .vdw, .vstx, .vstm, .vst, or .vtx extension.

Here’s how things work if you install Visio Viewer on your Windows-powered PC. A co-worker sends you a Visio file – it doesn’t matter what extension the file has, because Visio Viewer can handle lots of extensions (I've just listed them above so I am not going to list them again). Double click the Visio file you receive and your Internet Explorer web browser will launch. On its interface it will present the content of the Visio file you received. You can then view it at your leisure, zoom in and out, and play with some display properties.
